Seeing the library in a different light: Student success outside the classroom
Abstract
How do you view your campus library? A place for books, study rooms, and course reserves? Do you see librarians as people who “teach the library”? Yes, we are great for those things, but we are also great at overall student success. Keeping abreast on your library can come in handy when student confront you with issues. For example, do you have students in need of a space to lactate in between classes? We built a room for that! Do your students need help with citations over the weekend? Do your athletes have an away game, but need help with a paper? We have weekend/evening reference! Want to work on team building? We started a winter book club and team activities in our MakerSpace! Have a problem/idea and don’t know where to go on campus? The library is always willing to try and solve problems that contribute to student success.
