Contract Grading for the Inclusive, Equity-minded Classroom
Abstract
Contract Grading is a form of grading which results from cooperation between the instructor and the students. It entails a contracted number of assignments of specified quality to be completed in order to earn specific letter grades. As a participant in this session, you will have the opportunity to learn about contract grading theories, see examples of contract materials, and even redesign one of your own courses around contract grading. Our session is grounded in an equity-based rationale and context for contract grading. While we will be using the English classroom as an example, we believe the principles of contract grading are sound across disciplines.
