Many universities across the country have created systems of teaching evaluation that emphasize equity, consistency, transparency, and, most importantly, improvement of teaching and student outcomes. This interactive session brings together faculty from across the CSU who are working to improve teaching evaluation systems. Panel presentations will report on the work of campus initiatives to define teaching effectiveness, redesign student surveys to mitigate bias, train campus representations on fair interpretation of student survey data, reframe student surveys as part of formative evaluation of teaching, and design new approaches to peer observations. In addition to panel presentations, this session will allow participants to share examples of innovative teaching evaluation approaches at their campuses.
