Self-Service Shopping Cart for Extended Ed: Salesforce + Dell Boomi + PeopleSoft
Presentation Abstract
CSU, Dominguez Hills College of Extended Education offers continuing education classes to the general public. Because these classes may be taken by anyone, at any time, the services fall outside traditional higher education practices. For this reason, all processes were external to, but needed to integrate with, the core university student information system. From Marketing to Enrollment and Payment, the uniqueness of the business process meant everything was processed manually by staff. The complexity and time involved in manual processing resulted in significant revenue lost to competing institutions that offered ‘self-service cash and carry’ systems.
For this reason, the college partnered with the Information Technology team on campus, and Sierra Cedar Consulting Services, to implement an end-to-end solution that includes a CRM, Program Management, Self Service Registration & Payment, and bi-directional integration of data with the core university SIS – PeopleSoft Campus Solutions. This required full implementation of SalesForce’s Marketing Cloud, EDA, Service, and Community modules, as well as leveraging Dell Boomi integration technology and PeopleSoft PeopleTools technologies.
The result is a customer friendly, front end user interface that is transparent and seamless, and a back end that exposes the constituent’s relationship with the institution, and synchronizes data among the following systems: SalesForce – TouchNet - Liaison – PeopleSoft. In this presentation we will discuss what it took to make this happen. Making the Extended Ed experience transparent and effective!
