Everybody Run! They're Talking About Security Again: Getting the Security Awareness Message Out to an Audience That May Not Want to Listen
Presentation Abstract
In the security world, we realize the importance of our mission. We work hard to secure our network and systems, we scan, we log, we block. But our biggest vulnerability is people and they usually aren't as excited about security as we are. They've even been known to purposely avoid the topic. I know it is hard to believe, but security isn't everyone's idea of fun. So how can we reach them? How can we get them to stop running long enough to listen? Our panel will discuss methods and mediums for reaching an audience and getting their attention. We'll discuss how to align staffing to keep awareness efforts ongoing and effective. We'll discuss the importance of using metrics and reporting to get traction on security efforts. All of this is included and examples too.
