A Text Away: How Chatbots Bridge the Communication Gap With Students at Cal Poly Pomona, Cal State San Marcos, and Cal State Northridge
Presentation Abstract
This session will provide an overview of how three CSU campuses – Cal Poly Pomona, Cal State San Marcos and Cal State Northridge – are using AdmitHub, a texting chatbot platform, to meet our students where they’re at: their cell phones. Students text Billy Chat, CougarBot, or CSUNny to get instant answers about school-related questions and receive targeted messages that keep them on track to graduate. The Chatbot managers from these campuses will discuss various use cases, including the most and least effective uses of the tool, how it’s different from other communication tools we use with students, and what we have learned about our students’ communication habits and needs since chatbot implementation.
