CONFERENCE Proposals

Conference Update

The current pandemic crisis has made it more apparent than ever how valuable our Cal State Tech community is to the mission of the CSU. Unfortunately, this year’s in-person 2020 Cal State Tech Conference will be deferred until next year, July 2021. To keep the momentum going until then, we are actively planning a virtual Cal State Tech event to bring folks together and foster collaboration online. Tentative dates for this virtual event are July 28, 29, and 30, 2020, in the mornings. Please mark your calendar. We are busy working on finalizing the structure and format of the virtual event and look forward to updating you on the details in the very near future!  For those of you who submitted proposals for this year, we will be in touch soon.

Thank you,

Presentation Types

You will have the following presentation types to choose from:

Poster sessions
Poster sessions provide an opportunity for one or two presenters to share their ideas and outcomes in a visual on a poster. During the session, presenters stand by their poster to explain their topic to visitors and answer questions in a conversational way.
Workshops (includes demos, hands-on, and learning activities)
Workshops are longer (90 minutes in length), interactive sessions facilitated by one or more presenters to dive deeper into concepts or demonstrate a practice. Workshops should have clear objectives, interactive activities, and takeaways defined.
Panels
Panel presentations feature a moderator who facilitates discussion around a theme or topic among a small number of panelists who share differing, unique perspectives. Audience questions are encouraged.
Presentations
Presentations are the classic conference sessions where one or a few speakers present on an informational topic to the audience. Time is left at the end for questions and answers.
Roundtables
Roundtable sessions are informal discussion groups facilitated by a moderator on a particular topic. Roundtables are a great way to dive deeper into a topic, connect with others to share and gain new perspectives, or to develop ideas around a specific challenge.

  • All speakers listed in proposals must confirm their availability for the presentation on any conference day (Tuesday, July 28 through Thursday, July 30).
